Farshid Moradi was a 28-year-old Bakhtiari welder and resident of Fooladshahr who worked in Asaluyeh to support his family. On January 8, 2026, during public protests, he was killed after being shot in the head by a government sniper stationed on a rooftop. His family faced extortion and pressure from authorities, who demanded a massive ransom and forced them to falsely claim he was a member of the Basij militia before releasing his body for burial.
